when blue train, a local blues band, needed a way to promote their singles on a budget, i was tasked with creating album artwork and lyric videos that would capture the essence of their music while standing out in the crowded streaming world.

the vision was simple: create something unique that matched the vibe and lyrics of each song. for losing my faith (2022), i went with a more traditional blues aesthetic that reflected the song’s raw emotion. in contrast, ghostdance (2024) took a more modern approach, with visuals that broke from blues conventions to create a fresh, captivating experience.

i approached the projects by researching other music videos, especially those outside of the blues genre, to see what could be borrowed or adapted. the goal was to bring something new to the table, adding unexpected elements that aren’t typically seen in the genre. the result was a pair of lyric videos that not only aligned with the band’s sound but also stood out in a sea of new releases.

results

there were no major challenges along the way, but timing and attention to detail were essential. the smallest elements made a huge difference in making each video feel polished and engaging. we also ended up creating a spotify canvas, a short looping visual for the track. the response from the band was great, and i’m excited to work with them again on future projects.

this project highlights my versatility and ability to find creative, affordable solutions that make a real impact. in an era where thousands of tracks are released every day, doing something special and unique is essential to get noticed – and that’s what i strive to do in every project.
